This is a question we get asked quite often at the moment! God willing, we are going to be travelling in early July 2007 to Escondido in Southern California. Matthew is going to be studying at Westminster Seminary California and Naomi will be looking after Noah whilst Matthew studies. Noah is going to be enjoying the weather!
Matthew is going to be studying for a Masters Degree in Biblical Studies. This is a two year full time degree.
We’re not sure about where we will be going to church in Escondido, we’ve look at a number of fellowships, but we’ll let you know where we are going when we get there!
Where is Escondido?
Good question! Escondido is in Southen California and is about 30 miles north of San Deigo. San Deigo is on the Southern Tip of California almost in Mexico. The climate is reasonably mild. We’re told that it is around 30 degress (centigrade) most of the year. It is a fairly popular retirement destination due to the climate and the fact that you are just 30 minutes from the sea. Are we coming home?
In one word: Yes.
A number of people have asked us about whether we intend to stay in the USA. That is not our desire or intention. When we see the need in the UK compared to the USA it would be very hard for us to stay in the USA. We know the need for pastors and full time workers in our home country.
So why are we going abroad to study? This was a hard decision because the costs in terms of finances, family and friends will be high. However, we felt that we needed the best possible preparation for full time Christian ministry and we felt that we found that in Westminster Seminary California.
